Spanning 140 kilometres of Western Australia's most spectacular coastline, the Cape to Cape Track typically takes around six days to complete — and now it's set to become the backdrop for a landmark medicinal cannabis fundraising event.

Medical Cannabis Research Australia (MCRA) has announced Cape to Cape for Cannabis, a four-day charity walk scheduled for April next year that will take participants through some of the track's most celebrated stretches — an industry first.

The track runs from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south, winding through the Margaret River region and passing forests, beaches, and coastal headlands along the way.

Beyond the daily walking segments, the event will include nightly networking gatherings, a professional education session aimed at health practitioners and industry members, and conversations intended to reduce stigma and broaden patient access to medicinal cannabis.

All funds raised will support MCRA's charitable work, which centres on advancing medicinal cannabis research, training doctors, and improving access for Australian patients who need it.

Those behind the event say it has been designed to bring the medicinal cannabis industry together.

"This is more than a fundraiser – it's a movement," MCRA co-founder Sharlene Mavor said. "Together we can advance medicinal cannabis research, connect as an industry and create real change for patients."

The event runs from April 17 to 20, with tickets now available. A full four-day all-access pass is priced at $700 for industry attendees.

Additional ticket categories are also on offer, and attendees can access discounted accommodation rates at Margarets Beach Resort, which is serving as the event's base camp.

An earlybird discount of 15% off four-day passes is available until December 31.
