Organisers of Nimbin's MardiGrass festival have begun their planning process for this year's event and are calling on volunteers to get involved and help put the program together.
The cannabis law reform protest returns to Nimbin, NSW on the first weekend of May, with weekly planning sessions held at the town's HEMP Bar every Friday at 4.20pm leading up to the event.
All five Legalise Cannabis MPs, joined by Greens colleagues, are set to attend MardiGrass to outline their agendas for reform, while the event's Hemposium will host a range of talks and panel discussions focused on regulatory change and cannabis-related topics more broadly.
Musicians, performers, stallholders and volunteers are encouraged to attend a Friday session at the HEMP Bar or visit the website for further details.
MardiGrass president Michael Balderstone said that despite "half the north coast's population seemingly on legal weed… we still have a long way to go."
He added: "We're still not allowed to grow our own plants, and we're still not allowed to drive. Even with a doctor's prescription. It's got nothing do with impairment, just about the presence of weed in your saliva, possibly from a joint days ago. Absolute bullshit bullying."
