Editorial shake-up: Adam Sheldon joins as digital journalist, Steve Jones steps up to editor

The publication has bolstered its editorial ranks, bringing on Adam Sheldon as a digital journalist and elevating chief correspondent Steve Jones to the role of editor.

Before joining, Sheldon spent time at the ABC, where he covered news and current affairs and reported on breaking national stories from across the country.

He began his career at a regional newspaper in rural South Australia, reporting on agriculture and local politics — work that earned him a state Young Journalist of the Year award.

Sheldon will report directly to Jones. He also holds a position with ESPN as a sports journalist and contributes regularly to other sports outlets.

Jones said: "There's never any shortage of stories in cannabis and, as the industry and our audience grows, we need to expand the editorial team to match that demand.

"I'm delighted that we've managed to snare a great journo like Adam to join the team."

Sheldon, who will be at the The Cannabis Observer Awards on Thursday and starts work next week, added: "I've been an avid reader of The Cannabis Observer since the early days and already have a good insight into the industry. I can't wait to meet everyone and get started."

He will be contactable via ad**@**********om.au.

With the restructure now in place, co-founder and chief growth officer Martin Lane will move away from the news desk to concentrate on commercial opportunities and business development.
