Levin Health launches patient recruitment for cannabis oil chronic pain trial

A new patient recruitment campaign has been launched as investigators examine whether cannabis oil is safe and effective for treating musculoskeletal chronic pain.

The observational study, backed by Levin Health, is seeking 100 participants who have found no relief through conventional treatments.

The primary endpoint will assess pain scores, while secondary outcomes will measure how the cannabis medication affects depression, anxiety, sleep quality, stress, and overall quality of life.

Over the course of the trial, participants will be given one of three oil-based medications across 12 weeks or until they discontinue use.

WA-based prescriber Dr Matty Moore is serving as principal investigator, with Sharlene Mavor taking on the roles of associate investigator and study co-ordinator.

Those enrolled will be required to complete a baseline questionnaire followed by weekly standardised and validated patient reported outcome measure (PROM) questionnaires to track any changes in their condition.

To be eligible, participants must be aged 18 or over and have a diagnosis of treatment-resistant chronic pain of musculoskeletal origin.

The eligibility questionnaire can be found here.
