Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) has named Patty Holmes as its incoming executive officer, taking over from Rosemary Richards when she steps into the role on June 1.
Holmes is a recognised figure in Australia's medicinal cannabis sector, carrying more than 15 years of experience across the pharmaceutical industry and cannabis space. She previously held the position of chief operating officer at Althea before going on to co-found consultancy Holmes and Wilson.
MCIA said in a statement: "Patty is passionate about improving patient access in a flourishing medicinal cannabis industry and looks forward to further driving membership value."
Richards played a central role in building and running MCIA, contributing to its governance structures and expanding its membership. She will continue to support the organisation on specific projects through her own consulting business.
MCIA chair Peter Crock added: "MCIA thanks Rosemary for her service and dedication to the organisation, and the cause, and wishes her the best for the future.
"I look forward to working with Patty to continue MCIA's important work, building on the tremendous foundation that we have established thanks to Rosemary's guidance and incredible work capacity and ethic."
