Cann Group's Peter Koetsier appointed to MCIA board

Peter Koetsier has been appointed to the board of Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA), a move that will place him alongside his predecessor at Cann Group, Peter Crock.

Koetsier succeeded Crock as Cann Group CEO in January, with Crock holding the position of MCIA chair. The two, together with the rest of the board, will now collaborate "for the mutual interest of members and stakeholders".

"MCIA is pleased to welcome Peter to the board, bringing with him a strong pharmaceutical and business perspective," Crock said. "It is important to ensure that, as the peak industry body, the board of MCIA has the relevant skills to support the continued growth of the industry."

Before taking on the CEO role at Cann Group, Koetsier had been head of Asia Pacific for French biopharmaceutical company Ipsen.

His earlier career included serving as general manager of Australia/New Zealand at Ipsen, as well as senior management roles at Astra/Zeneca UK and Bristol-Myers Squibb in Europe.

MCIA said it would continue building an industry "based on legitimacy, credibility, and recognition for the Australian sector in domestic and international arenas".
