Cannabis Council Australia will be representing medicinal cannabis patients at the 2025 Sydney Mardi Gras Fair Day on Sunday, February 16.

Fair Day opens the Sydney Mardi Gras season at Victoria Park, drawing thousands of visitors to a gathering focused on inclusivity, advocacy, and community celebration.

Cannabis Council Australia's industry and government engagement lead Matthew McCrone said: "We recognise the importance of engaging directly with the LGBTQIA+ community, many of whom are disproportionately affected by barriers to equitable healthcare.

"Cannabis Council Australia is committed to advocating for patient access, driving legislative change, and supporting an industry that prioritises compassion, inclusivity, and evidence-based care."

The organisation's Fair Day stall will offer an interactive community space where visitors can engage with advocates pushing to reform outdated policies, with a particular focus on driving laws and the stigma faced by patients.

"Fair Day is a celebration of visibility, and it's critical that patients – many of whom are members of the LGBTQIA+ community – are seen, heard, and supported," McCrone added.

"Cannabis Council Australia's presence at this event underscores our commitment to ensuring all Australians have access to their medication if prescribed, free from stigma and discrimination."

Leafio

Montu-owned medicinal cannabis wholesaler Leafio has unveiled same-day delivery to selected pharmacies across Sydney.

The company said the initiative will allow metro-based pharmacy customers to speed up their ordering process and get medicines to patients faster than previously possible.

Leafio noted that its three distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane already support next-day delivery for more than 99% of pharmacy orders across the country.

Leafio General Manager Nicole Le Maistre added: "Following the successful introduction of same-day delivery to select customers in Melbourne, we are delighted to be able to offer the same service in Sydney.

"With this move, we will be able to further improve the connection between pharmacies, suppliers and patients through faster distribution.

"We hope this service will assist in making these medications more accessible to those who need them most."

Jo Khoo, managing partner of Tom Lane Pharmacy in Greensborough, Victoria lauded the benefits of same-day delivery for his customers: "As a pharmacist, it's important that we can provide our patients with the medicines they need in a timely manner," he said.

Neurotech International

Neurotech has entered into a partnership agreement with RH Farma, a subsidiary of European Cannabis Company (ECC) that specialises in developing and scaling cannabis-based products for pharmaceutical use.

The collaboration is aimed at producing a strain-agnostic, pharmaceutical-grade broad spectrum cannabinoid drug product designed for paediatric patients with neurodevelopmental disorders, built on RH Farma's CO2 extraction technology.

Neurotech said the agreement is consistent with its existing composition and formulation of specific cannabinoids at defined concentrations, which has shown meaningful improvement in patients with progressive neuroinflammatory disorders including autism, Rett Syndrome, and PANDAS/PANS.
