The Nimbin Hemp Embassy will host its latest Medican event on Saturday, February 25, timed to align with Medicinal Cannabis Awareness Week.
The event's speaker lineup includes Southern Cross University Dean of Law David Heilpern, medicinal cannabis advocate and nurse Debbie Ranson, CDA Health co-founder Dr Ben Jansen, compounding chemist Des Harp, newly elected Legalise Cannabis Victoria MP Rachel Payne, and Marc Selan from the Barcelona Cannabis Club.
Ranson's presentation will cover how medicinal cannabis functions and what both patients and clinicians should understand about it for personal use and professional practice, while Jansen will address the neuroprotective properties of cannabinoids.
Selan will share his experience running a cannabis club in Barcelona over eight years, drawing out lessons that could apply to Australia's approach to an effective legal cannabis market.
