Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) executive officer Patty Holmes looks back on a packed few days at last week's ICBC conference in Berlin.
Australian companies taking part in the MCIA delegation at ICBC had a full schedule throughout the event.
Together with colleague Rosemary Richards, MCIA led a delegation that brought together representatives from Biortica Agrimed, Cannatrek, ECS Botanics, OMG Pharma, Steritech, Zion Botanics, MediPharm Labs, MedTech Pharma and cannabis.org.au.
ICBC Berlin is one of the major international cannabis conferences addressing both the medicinal and adult-use markets, with a dedicated portion of the program focused on topics relevant to the medical sector.
In her capacity representing MCIA, Holmes joined a panel on emerging legal cannabis markets, a session that drew a strong crowd.
The MCIA/Global Victoria booth sat between those of Little Green Pharma, Apollo Green and OMG Pharma, giving that section of the exhibition floor a distinctly Australian character.
A private briefing session was arranged for delegates, bringing together Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), Dentons and Cansativa GmbH.
Julia Albrecht from GTAI gave an overview of the German healthcare market with a particular focus on medicinal cannabis, Malte Goetz walked through the legal and regulatory framework governing market access, and Thiago Casar shared practical insights on how to enter it successfully.

Having access to such experienced specialists in their respective fields proved invaluable for the delegation.
On the social side of the trip, a casual dinner for delegates and a well-attended wine reception at the MCIA/Global Victoria booth rounded out what turned into a productive few days in the German capital.
As the peak body for Australia's licensed medicinal cannabis industry, MCIA continues to offer support and a platform for companies seeking to engage with international markets.
