The legal battle launched by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) against Montu Group over alleged advertising violations is heading to court for the first time in June.
A case management hearing covering the allegations against Montu, its subsidiary Alternaleaf, and managing director Christopher Strauch has been scheduled for June 7 at the Federal Court in Melbourne.
Justice John Snaden will preside over the matter.
The TGA alleges that Montu, Alternaleaf, and Strauch unlawfully promoted medicinal cannabis across websites and social media platforms on numerous occasions since 2022.
The company also faces accusations of advertising medicinal cannabis to the general public through a website it created for Medicinal Cannabis Awareness Week 2023 and through a light projection carried out by its Cannaverse education platform in Sydney during that year's MCAW.
Court filings show Montu is facing 226 alleged offences, with many of those containing multiple individual advertising breach claims.
Montu has said it will "vigorously defend" the action.
