Cannaverse, the educational portal operated by Alternaleaf, displayed a light projection along Sydney's Pitt Street on Wednesday evening to coincide with Medicinal Cannabis Awareness Week (MCAW).
Alternaleaf and Cannaverse's parent company Montu described the projection as "a visible symbol" of its dedication to industry education, and "as a reminder that progress in medical cannabis awareness requires collaborative efforts from both industry leaders and the broader community, with a focus on education".
The portal hosts articles, infographics, videos and patient stories, and is set to launch a podcast featuring guests that include Legalise Cannabis NSW MP Jeremy Buckingham.
Montu vice president Rhys Staley said the company had a responsibility as "shapers" of the industry to elevate the conversation throughout MCAW.
He added: "We believe in all patients in Australia having the right information available to make informed choices about their health.
"Public awareness is still relatively low – despite an increase in patients being prescribed these medications – and through a lack of transparency and available information, stigma is able to persist and thrive."
Staley described raising awareness as "pivotal".
"Through the initiatives being championed this week, we aim to reduce the stigma attached to medical cannabis use," he said.
"Cannaverse hopes to engage the public in a constructive conversation, dispelling myths and providing balanced views about [the medicine] in Australia."
