ACannabis Conference Program Unveiled: TGA Advertising Rules and TGO93 Reforms Take Centre Stage

Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia has published the full program for its upcoming ACannabis conference scheduled for March, with sessions focusing on the health regulator's advertising requirements, changes to TGO93 regulations, and international opportunities for Australia's cannabis sector.

The event will include fireside chats with former Greens leader and cannabis advocate Richard Di Natale and prominent physician Professor Kerryn Phelps. The Therapeutic Goods Administration's John Skerritt and Avi Rebera are also scheduled to speak on potential shifts in the regulatory environment.

Alongside the main conference program, the first day will host a workshop providing a hands-on guide to prescribing medicinal cannabis in Australia, led by Dr Orit Holtzman, president of the Australia and New Zealand Society of Cannabinoid Practitioners.

Running under the theme 'Growing the Industry through Research, Collaboration and Innovation', ACannabis will open on March 14 with an address from assistant minister for health and ageing, Ged Kearney, before moving into sessions covering industry developments and regulatory matters both domestically and internationally.

The first day's agenda includes a discussion on proposed changes to TGO 93 regulations, examining whether importers are prepared for the GMP reforms due to take effect on July 1.

That session will be followed by a fireside chat focused on how to navigate the TGA's stringent advertising and marketing rules.

An international panel will examine global opportunities and compliance considerations, with the opening day closing on a session dedicated to innovation and research and development.

The second day will feature an interview with Di Natale, in which he is expected to reflect on how the industry has evolved since medical legalisation and share his outlook for the coming five years.

A further session will bring together doctors and prescribers to explore best practice and how to achieve strong patient outcomes while upholding ethical standards.

Delegates will also hear from Professor Phelps, chair-elect of the Hemp Cooperative Research Centre, before the conference closes with an update on clinical trials and patient outcomes.
