Bod Australia's Softgel Capsule Outperforms Epidyolex and CBD Oil in Phase 1 Bioavailability Study

Bod Australia has released encouraging results from a Phase 1 pharmacokinetic (PK) study that compared its ECS BioAbsorb Softgel Capsule against Epidyolex and a CBD oil.

The study included three oral treatment arms, each administered as a single 100mg CBD dose to 14 healthy participants between the ages of 18 and 50.

Results showed that Bod's softgel product achieved significantly higher CBD concentrations in the blood, faster delivery, and greater overall bioavailability compared to the other formats tested.

The softgel produced CBD blood concentrations more than 20% higher than Epidyolex, and more than 400% higher than CBD isolate delivered in MCT oil.

Peak CBD concentration following a single oral dose of the softgel exceeded Epidyolex by more than 60%, and surpassed the isolate by 600%.

The softgel also reached peak CBD concentration twice as quickly as Epidyolex and five times faster than the isolate.

All 14 participants completed the trial without any reported safety or tolerability concerns.

The study is part of Bod's ongoing submission to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) seeking registration of a Schedule 3 (over-the-counter) CBD medicine.

Bod said the results support the potential for its softgel product "to be the benchmark delivery format for the over-the-counter CBD market".

CEO Jo Patterson added: "These reported findings from Bod's PK study provide us great assurance as we progress toward the dossier submission for the TGA, and subsequent registration of our Schedule 3 CBD product.

"Bod considers our uniquely developed softgel format product to be at the forefront of the Schedule 3 CBD space in Australia and we look forward to reporting further on our clinical trial as we continue to move through each stage.

"We're pleased to see indicators that continue to de-risk our pathway to launching Bod ECS BioAbsorb Softgel, which will introduce a new delivery format for Australian consumers."
