The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has handed down infringement notices amounting to nearly A$140,000 against Naturally Elevated and an associated individual over the alleged unlawful promotion of medicinal cannabis across websites and social media platforms.
According to the TGA, the company "allegedly promoted the use or supply of prescription-only medicinal cannabis" and the regulator further alleged "the advertisements made unapproved references to the treatment of serious diseases or conditions, known as prohibited and restricted representations".
Eight of the infringement notices, totalling $132,000, were directed at the company, while a further two notices amounting to $6,600 were issued to an individual.
The regulator noted that across 2022-23 it issued 101 infringement notices totalling more than $1.29 million for alleged unlawful medicinal cannabis advertising in breach of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Naturally Elevated has been approached for comment.
