Cannatrek is set to lose another senior figure, with executive general manager Craig Thompson announcing his departure from the company after six years.
Thompson joined the business in December 2018 as a patient access consultant, went on to spend five years as head of sales, and most recently held the position of EGM of business development.
Framing his exit as the "closing of a chapter" and "exciting new beginnings", the well-regarded Thompson described the past six years as "nothing short of extraordinary".
"The journey… was filled with growth, challenges (as those in the industry will understand!), and successes that have shaped both my career and who I am today," he wrote on LinkedIn.
"Reflecting on my time with Cannatrek, I'm incredibly proud of what we accomplished as a team. Starting with [former CEO] Tommy [Huppert] as one of just three in Melbourne, we navigated challenges, celebrated milestones, and achieved successes that stand as a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and resilience."
Thompson gave no indication of his next move or his reasons for leaving, though his replies to messages on LinkedIn hinted that he may stay within the medicinal cannabis sector.
His exit brings to a close a significant era at Cannatrek. Other long-serving directors, CEO Tommy Huppert and CFO Brett Schwarz, left in late 2024 during a year of upheaval and unrest at the company.
Thompson added: "I'm deeply grateful to Cannatrek for the trust and opportunities extended to me over the years."
"As I step into the next chapter of my career, I leave Cannatrek with immense gratitude, cherished memories, and the belief that amazing things happen when the right people come together with passion and purpose."
