Nexalis Therapeutics – previously known as InhaleRx – has finished dosing participants in the first cohort of its Phase 1 clinical trial for IRX-616a, its inhaled synthetic cannabidiol CBD candidate being developed to treat panic disorder.
The trial is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study taking place at CMAX Adelaide and is designed to enrol as many as 24 patients.
After receiving clearance from a Safety Review Committee, the clinical-stage biotech announced it had begun dosing participants in its second cohort.
Chief executive Darryl Davies said the committee's assessment confirmed the study was "progressing as expected".
"Advancing into Cohort 2 is an important step in the clinical development of IRX-616a and continues to build confidence in our rapid-onset inhaled delivery platform," he said.
Nexalis said it expects to administer doses to the final participant by the end of June 2026, after which a Phase 2 study is planned to follow.
