Montu Staff to Climb Mount Kosciuszko in Support of Rare Cancer Patients

A team of Montu employees will tackle Australia's tallest mountain next March, taking part in an annual fundraising drive aimed at supporting people affected by uncommon forms of cancer.

The staff members will lace up their hiking boots for the 2025 Kosi Challenge, a fundraising event organised by Rare Cancers Australia (RCA) in which participants ascend the 2,228-metre Mount Kosciuszko.

Now entering its 13th year, the event is designed to bring attention and financial support to those living with less common cancer diagnoses.

RCA notes that while rare cancers account for 25% of all cancer diagnoses, they are responsible for more than half of all cancer-related deaths.

Montu vice president of patient advocacy and corporate affairs, Jodie Thomas, said: "This climb is about more than reaching the summit. It's about raising awareness and giving a voice to those whose stories often go unheard.

"We're proud to partner with Rare Cancers Australia on this important initiative.

"Joining the Kosi Challenge is a tangible way for us to show our solidarity with people facing extraordinary health challenges."

Since its founding in 2013, the Kosi Challenge has generated $4.6m, directed toward research, advocacy, and support services for people living with rare cancers.

In the weeks ahead of the climb, Montu team members will document their personal motivations and preparations on LinkedIn, drawing attention to the cause along the way.

Those wishing to contribute can donate to Rare Cancers Australia through the Montu Mountaineers team page.
