A Medihuanna webinar scheduled for next week will examine the increasing use of compounding in the medicinal cannabis sector, bringing together a panel of industry experts to address its implications.
One of the central topics under discussion will be the substitution of commercially manufactured medicines with compounded alternatives — a practice that was reported in October to have been gaining traction in recent months.
The webinar's organisers said the conversation has become necessary given that "practices are emerging that could significantly impact patient care and the industry's reputation".
"We have noticed an increase in discussions around compounding in the Australian medicinal cannabis industry [and] feel it's important to educate the medical community on this topic, since there are some concerns," the education platform said.

The panel will include Des Harp, owner of the My Life My Health compounding business, GP Dr Anjali Didi, and pharmacists Quinn On and Marina Holt.
Discussion topics will cover the broader range of medicinal cannabis products currently available, TGA categories, brand substitution, ethical prescribing and dispensing practices, and the risks and benefits associated with compounding medicinal cannabis.
A Q&A session will also be held as part of the event.
The webinar is free to attend and will be held on December 7 at 7pm. To register click here.
