Medihuanna Opens Online Community Hub for Medical Professionals Prescribing Cannabis

Medicinal cannabis education company Medihuanna has unveiled a new online community designed to help healthcare professionals build their knowledge and share best practices around prescribing cannabis medicines.

Hosted on the Medihuanna website, the dedicated hub gives GPs, pharmacists and nurses a space to connect with colleagues, exchange experiences, pose questions, and work through case studies together.

Co-founder and managing director Pavel Bulkiewicz said: "Based on our observations, healthcare professionals have many questions in regards to prescribing cannabis medicines.

"Our goal is to provide a space for medical peers to gain the knowledge to confidently treat patients with medicinal cannabis… to become an expert and make the best decisions for their patients."

Through the hub, healthcare professionals can also access Medihuanna's suite of online courses, guides, templates, product information, resources and webinars.

The organisation has a series of webinars and online discussions scheduled over the coming months, covering subjects such as ADHD and medicinal cannabis, microdosing MDMA and psilocybin, and cannabis-use disorder.

Medihuanna was established in October 2016, with its first accredited education activity delivered in 2018 and its online platform going live in 2020.

To date, close to 2,500 healthcare professionals have completed the company's RACGP-accredited live workshops or enrolled in its online courses, and more than 1,600 doctors are active members of the online community.

Live workshops focus on practical prescribing skills for medicinal cannabis as well as a mental health and chronic pain masterclass, while online courses carry approval for up to 40 CPD points across Australia and New Zealand. Attendance statements can also be used to support an Authorised Prescriber application.

Bulkiewicz added: "Our goal is to expand our educational offerings and provide the medical community training programs on various clinical indications, integrative approaches to treat patients and incorporate medicinal cannabis in a holistic approach.

"We are developing a new curriculum specific to different clinical indications including chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia.

"With such a large number of healthcare professionals being trained by Medihuanna… we would like to see more prescribers join our community in the coming months and will conduct more webinars to engage them."
