Lyphe Australia has introduced a line of flower products under its Aelleve brand, with the aim of encouraging more general practitioners in community settings to prescribe medicinal cannabis.
The four new products — a CBD/THC balance, a mid-THC option, and two mid-to-high THC formulations — will be accessible through the Special Access Scheme, sitting alongside the high-THC offerings already available in Lyphe's Wild Flower range.
The Aelleve brand already includes four oil products.
Lyphe Australia managing director Tracey Loton said the straightforward packaging, limited product selection, and lower-THC formulations within the Aelleve range were all deliberately chosen to reduce barriers for community GPs who have little experience prescribing medicinal cannabis.
"Aelleve is our more medical brand which is easy for doctors to work out what to prescribe," she said. "We are out there talking to GPs in the community and our strategy is to not only capture the existing prescribing and patient market but to grow the market and educate more community GPs."
Loton said high-volume, clinic-based prescribers tend to seek broader product variety and are "more aware of the differentiation between products".
"Community prescribers aren't necessarily going to understand the nuances, they just want a streamlined choice," Loton said.
Separately, Lyphe is currently completing a transition to a new spelling of the brand — from Alleve to Aelleve — after the original name conflicted with an existing pharmaceutical company.
