Jansen family drops bid to restore ousted Cronos director to board

The wife of Cronos Australia's former chief medical officer, Dr Ben Jansen, has abandoned efforts to have him reinstated as a company director, withdrawing plans to bring the matter to a vote at the firm's upcoming annual general meeting.

Elizabeth Jansen, acting as trustee for the Stanford Investment Trust — Cronos's largest shareholder with a 23.4% stake — had intended to put forward a resolution at next month's AGM calling for his return to the board.

In a brief ASX statement, Cronos confirmed the proposed resolution had been withdrawn, offering no further explanation.

Dr Jansen, a co-founder of CDA Health, departed Cronos in September. The circumstances surrounding his exit have not been made public.

Cronos and CDA Health completed a merger in December 2021.

Elizabeth Jansen's withdrawn resolution was the second to be put forward by a member of the Jansen family.

Dr Jansen's cousin, Matua, acting as trustee for the Whanau Family Trust, had previously announced his intention to pursue the removal of chief executive Rodney Cocks and director Guy Headley from the board.

That resolution remains on the agenda for the November 29 AGM.

Further developments in the matter are expected later this week.
