Incannex Gets Ethics Green Light to Trial Cannabinoid Drug for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea

Incannex Healthcare has secured ethics approval to evaluate the bioavailability of its cannabinoid combination therapy in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea.

The clinical trial for IHL-42X — the company's proprietary formulation combining dronabinol and acetazolamide — will measure pharmacokinetics and tolerability against reference drugs listed by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Researchers will also investigate how food intake affects the pharmacokinetics of the two active compounds.

The study will be carried out by Novotech in Adelaide, with 116 participants receiving four single-dose administrations of IHL-42X under both fasted and fed conditions.

Incannex chief scientific officer Dr Mark Bleackley said: "The trial is a very important component of the IHL-42X pipeline. Approval of the study by Bellberry HREC… allows us to move towards patient recruitment and data collection."
