Carmen Doran, CEO of Helius Therapeutics, has claimed the Inspiring Women Leaders category at the New Zealand International Business Awards.
In their assessment, the judges described Doran as "passionate about empowering leadership and driving an environment of continuous improvement" and acknowledged her "hunger for excellence and having an impact on the world around us".
The panel also highlighted her "phenomenal generosity of collaboration", noting that "she brings everything she has to the table, shares it, then multiplies it", and called her "the future of [women] leaders".
The judges went on to say: "She shines with her process-driven style and ability to unite her team to reach joint goals. She goes against the grain even when going up against adversity in a difficult industry."
Helius has reached several significant milestones under her leadership, among them becoming the first New Zealand company to obtain a GMP licence for medicine manufacturing and supply locally grown and locally made products to New Zealand patients, while also laying the groundwork for future exports.
Earlier, Helius and Puro jointly received the Industry Collaboration trophy at the The Cannabis Observer Awards in June.
