New Zealand-based Greenfern Industries has entered into a partnership with medicinal cannabis supplier Ampyl Sciences to ship its cannabis flower to markets in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
The opening shipment of product — grown by Greenfern and exported under Ampyl's CannFX brand — has already been dispatched.
This development comes after Greenfern sold its second harvested batch to Ampyl Sciences as part of an ongoing multi-year supply agreement covering its medicinal cannabis flower.
Greenfern said the export arrangement creates new revenue streams and provides a reliable source of cash flow for the Taranaki-based company.
With expanded production capacity at its newly operational cultivation facility, the company said it is well-positioned to satisfy rising demand for medicinal cannabis both at home and in international markets.
Managing Director Dan Casey said the company's entry into the EU and UK would enable it to enter "some of the largest markets globally."
Greenfern's cultivation output has grown by more than 50 per cent since the facility came online in August last year, with future harvests expected to bring a significant jump in volume.
Ampyl already has an established presence in these markets, having begun exporting medicinal cannabis to Germany in 2022 and to the UK the following year.
