ECS Botanics Founder Alex Keach Steps Down from Executive Role After Eight Months

Alex Keach, the founder of ECS Botanics, has stepped down from his positions as head of corporate development and executive director, effective immediately.

Back in June 2022, executive general manager Nan-Maree Schoerie took over from Keach as managing director, with Keach transitioning into a newly created role focused on corporate strategy, investor relations and strategic partnerships, while retaining his seat on the board as an executive director.

At the time, he said: "Nan and I have a strong friendship and business relationship, as the largest individual shareholders we are motivated to realise the value in the company which is representative of our efforts.

"I am looking forward to spending more time selling, promoting and uncovering corporate and strategic opportunities for ECS both locally and overseas."

In a statement lodged with the ASX on Friday (February 10), Keach reflected on the company he founded in 2018: "In a short period of time, ECS has built a market-leading medicinal cannabis business, through applying innovation in cultivation, investing in our people and treating shareholder capital like our own.

"The company reached a cashflow positive milestone last quarter and we have an outstanding leader in Nan-Maree Schoerie. The future is bright for ECS and the cannabis sector in general. I look forward to continuing my contribution as a non-executive director of the company."

Nan-Maree Schoerie added: "Alex remains a committed major shareholder and has played an invaluable role in getting ECS Botanics to the strong position it is in today, and I look forward to continuing to work with [him] on the board."
