Industry Roundup: Montu Tops LinkedIn Rankings; ANTG Earns Export Finalist Nod; ECS Botanics Adds Executives; Tilray Medical Brings Redecan to Australia

Montu has claimed the top spot on LinkedIn Australia's Top Startups list for 2024, jumping from fifth place in 2023.

Released annually, the list identifies 20 up-and-coming Australian companies that "aren't just growing fast and garnering attention from investors and jobseekers – they're also building innovative solutions that are shaping the future of their industries".

LinkedIn compiles the list using data across four pillars: employee growth; interest from jobseekers; engagement with the company and its employees; and the ability to attract talent from leading organisations.

To qualify, companies must be headquartered in Australia, remain fully independent and privately held, employ at least 30 full-time staff, and be no more than five years old.

Managing director Christopher Strauch said: "It's an honour to once again be listed among the best companies in Australia. Continuing to attract top-tier talent means we can focus on putting our patients first."

Australian Natural Therapeutics Group

Australian Natural Therapeutics Group (ANTG) has been named a finalist in the Regional Exporter category at the 2024 Premier's NSW Export Awards.

Matt Cantelo

ANTG was among the first Australian companies to export medicinal cannabis internationally, shipping to Germany in 2020, and has since grown that side of its business considerably, including the renewal earlier this year of a supply agreement with Cannamedical worth A$100 million.

ANTG founder and CEO Matt Cantelo said: "This recognition by the Export Council of Australia is a pleasant surprise for the company. We are already on track to surpass last financial year's full export tonnage by late 2024."

ANTG will compete against five other finalists at Sydney Town Hall on October 11.

ECS Botanics

ECS Botanics has brought on Nicholas Thomas as chief operating officer and Dr Rachel Swift as an incoming non-executive director on its board.

Thomas will take responsibility for day-to-day operations, improving efficiencies across the business, and advancing its international growth plans alongside the rollout of B2C product lines.

In its ASX announcement, ECS said he has "a proven track record in scaling operations and driving commercial improvements across multimillion-dollar B2B and B2C companies".

Thomas also brings broad experience in agricultural compliance and quality auditing, covering Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), the Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme (HARPS), and the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).

Dr Swift has occupied senior roles at companies working across health system management, public health, infectious diseases, digital health, and medical research, including ten years at The Boston Consulting Group where her work centred on business strategy, healthcare innovation, and improving patient outcomes.

Tilray Medical

Tilray Medical is introducing its Redecan EU GMP-certified medical cannabis range to the Australian market.

Tilray Brands chief strategy officer and head of international Denise Faltischek said the launch of the premium brand "further expands our medical cannabis portfolio alongside our current Tilray and Broken Coast offerings, as we continue our mission of empowering patients and healthcare practitioners to find the optimal therapeutic solutions".

Tilray Medical Australia director Jonathan Trodden added: "We are proud to launch Redecan in Australia and further strengthen our ongoing commitment to providing patients with a consistent, accessible supply of premium quality medical cannabis to choose from."
