Industry Updates: Heyday Medical, Lyphe Australia, Helius Therapeutics

Heyday Medical has released a new line of Australian-manufactured pastilles designed to extend its low and no-dose THC product range.

Developed by Heyday chief medical officer Dr Jim Connell and Mode Healthcare GP Dr David Gunn, the product delivers a balanced 3mg each of THC, CBD and CBG, targeting patients managing chronic pain, anxiety, or inflammation.

Dr Gunn said Heyday Tangerine Three's are designed to provide functional relief without the sedation or intoxication that higher THC doses can produce.

"By combining low-dose THC with CBG and CBD, we're delivering a medicine that addresses a broad spectrum of therapeutic needs while minimising risks like intoxication and worsening of pre-existing mental health symptoms," he said.

"The pastilles on the market are currently too strong for many medical patients. I find that when adjusted carefully, many patients stabilise on 2-3mg of THC per dose."

Dr Connell added: "I've been working with CBG intimately for the last year and have seen patients get so much more out of their cannabis medicines with [it] on board."

Lyphe Australia

Portuguese cultivator Gro-Vida has entered into an exclusive supply agreement with Lyphe Australia, bringing its European Union-grown medicinal cannabis products to the Australian market.

Lyphe Australia general manager Kevin Nafte said the arrangement would allow the company to improve the quality, consistency and variety of its product offering.

"We recognise that patient needs will continually evolve, and as a patient-centric company, we must be poised to evolve with the demand," he added.

For Gro-Vida, the deal opens new channels to grow its presence and meet rising Australian demand through Lyphe's established distribution network.

Managing director Mallory Bodnar said: "Patients require low-cost, high-quality options and I believe this collaboration will satisfy that need."

The initial launch cultivars include Super Lemon Haze, MK Ultra and Wappa.

Helius Therapeutics

Helius Therapeutics has added a new locally-grown flower product and an oral spray to its New Zealand product line.

The company said it remains committed to broadening access to and affordability of medicinal cannabis therapies throughout New Zealand while "upholding rigorous regulatory standards".

Beyond its domestic operations, Helius is now exporting product to Australia, Denmark and South America following recent changes to New Zealand's export rules.
