Charles Kovess Takes the Helm at Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance

Charles Kovess has been appointed president of the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance (AIHA), succeeding James Vosper, who stepped down from the role after six years at the top.

Vosper moves into the vice-president position, taking over from Margaret River Hemp Co's Georgina Wilkinson, who will continue to serve on the executive committee. Marlene Hargreaves steps into the secretary role previously held by Kovess.

Arthur Wajs stays on as treasurer, while Kevin Wortes, Dr Mary Cole and Darren Christie have been elected to the committee.

Dr Omid Ansari will continue in his role as honorary research director, providing the committee with technical and scientific guidance.

Vosper said: "I want to express my gratitude for the privilege of serving this incredible association as president. Since our inception we have achieved significant milestones and faced challenges together.

"Charles Kovess has a commitment to our mission and a clear vision for the future. His standing in the Australian and global hemp industry is evidence of this.

"Many of the obstacles that we face are tied to regulations that deter investment and Charles is uniquely qualified to tackle this.

"I am excited about the future of the AIHA and our industry, and I look forward to continuing my involvement as a dedicated executive committee member."
