Cannatrek Earns TGA's GMP Certification for Its Shepparton Manufacturing Site

Cannatrek has secured Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification from the Therapeutic Goods Administration for its manufacturing facility in Shepparton, Victoria.

The A$5 million facility is one component of a broader $17 million investment the company has planned for the Shepparton region, which covers cultivation and end-to-end production of medicinal cannabis products.

Founder and CEO Tommy Huppert described GMP accreditation as a "major milestone" for the business, saying it would allow the company to bring more production in-house, take full control of product quality, and "see more product available to support patients, faster and at a lower cost".

Cannatrek said it anticipates creating more than 70 jobs across regional Victoria over the next three years, while also opening up local manufacturing opportunities for both its own operations and other brands within the industry.

"Through this facility, we are not only generating jobs in the Shepparton area, we are also introducing valuable skills and career paths," said Huppert.

"Our team members receive extensive training to ensure the production and packaging of pharmaceutical-grade cannabis meet internationally recognised standards."

The company also noted that the accreditation is expected to strengthen export prospects, with GMP-compliant facilities "more likely to gain acceptance in international markets… where pharmaceutical manufacturers can anticipate facing fewer regulatory barriers or restrictions".
