ODC Issues $19,800 Fine to Cannatrek Over Medicinal Cannabis Licence Breach

Cannatrek has received a $19,800 fine from the Office of Drug Control after allegedly failing to meet statutory reporting requirements tied to its medicinal cannabis licence.

According to the ODC, the violation involved a failure to notify the regulator of “changes to ownership, management or functional control of medicinal cannabis operations and production”.

“Licence holders must understand and comply with their responsibilities under the Act and all licence conditions,” the drug enforcement agency said in a statement on its website.

“Consequences for non-compliance with relevant laws include not only financial penalties but could also lead to civil or criminal proceedings being brought against those who fail to meet their requirements.”

The regulator also cautioned that ongoing failures to comply “may also result in licence suspension or revocation”.

This is not the first time Cannatrek has faced ODC enforcement action. The company was previously hit with a $99,000 penalty in 2023 over alleged security breaches.

Cannatrek was contacted for comment but had not responded at the time of publication.
