The Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) has established a dedicated sub-group for manufacturers, building on the momentum of a comparable initiative it created for cultivators.
The AMCA previously launched the Australian Cannabis Cultivators (ACC) sub-association, which has grown to more than 40 members and is chaired by board director Emily Rigby.
AMCA chair Dr Teresa Nicoletti said: “Like the ACC and other sub-associations, the [manufacturers group] will provide a hands-on forum for individuals to discuss and promote best practice, equipment and machinery options, and important issues affecting manufacture under the current regulatory framework.”
Bryan Ebstyne, AMCA board director and one of the proposed members of a steering committee for the new sub-association, added: “This latest initiative provides a community for another group of like-minded members to meet and discuss areas of mutual interest and concern.”
According to the AMCA, membership in the new sub-association is open to domestic manufacturers as well as companies that import bulk medicinal cannabis flower and process it locally into finished products for patient supply.
Consistent with the AMCA's approach to its other sub-associations, membership is complimentary for eligible AMCA members.
